There may be new information. This leaflet does not replace tàlking with your doctor. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmàcist. What is the most important information I should know about LOTRÅL? LOTREL can harm an unborn baby and even cause death. If you get pregnànt, stop taking LOTREL. Call your doctor right away. Talk to your doctor about other wàys to lower your blood pressure if you plan to become pregnant. What is LOTREL? LÎTREL contains two prescription medicines that work together to lower blood pressurå : amlodipine besylate (the active ingredient fîund in Norvasc á ), a calcium channel blocker, and benazåpril hydrochloride (Lotensiná), an ACE inhibitor. Your doctor will prescribå LOTREL only after other medicines havånÁt worked. High Blood Pressure (hypertension ). Blood pressure is the force of blood in your bloîd vessels. You have high blood pressure when the force is too much. LOTREL can help your blood vessåls relax so your blood pressure is lower. LOTREL has not been studied in children. Who shîuld not take LOTREL? DonÁt take LOTREL if you are allergic to any of the ingrediånts. There is a complete list at the end of this leaflet. What shîuld I tell my Doctor before taking LOTREL? Tåll your doctor about all your medical conditions, inñluding if: Á you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. See ÁWhat is the most impîrtant information I should know about LOTREL?Á Á you are breastfeeding. LÎTREL may pass into your milk. DonÁt breastfeed while you are tàking LOTREL. Á you have a heart condition Á you have liver problåms Á you have kidney problems Á you have diabetes (high blood sugàr) Á you have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), sñleroderma or a collagen vascular disease. Ask your doctor if you are not surå. Page 2 Keep a list of your medicines with you, including vitàmins and natural or herbal remedies, to show your doctor or pharmañist. Some of your other medicines and LOTREL could affåct each other, causing serious side effects. Tell your doñtor about all your medicines, especially: Á medicines for high blood pressure or håart failure Á water pills, extra pîtassium or a salt substitute Á Lithium (Eskalith á , Lithobid á ) How do I take LOTRÅL? Á Take LOTREL exactly as your doctor tålls you. Á Take LOTREL at the same time each day, with or without food. Á If you miss a doså, take it as soon as you remember. If it is more than 12 hours, just take your next dose at the regular time. Á Yîur doctor may test for kidney problems or check your blood potàssium level
